Halo: The Master Chief Collection is important for Microsoft because it offers the only way to experience all the Master Chief powered titles on the Xbox One as gamers get ready for the launch of Halo 5: Guardians on October 27. It is considered a prequel to the first Halo and was a blockbuster on the Xbox 360.
Guardians, which includes a steelbook, a packet of dossiers, the Halo: The Fall of Reach series, extra DLC, and a Metal Earth model, will cost $80, and executive producer Josh Holmes says that it was created to look like it “came directly out of the Halo universe”. Fans have been wondering then if Reach will receive the same visual upgrade. Spencer has neither confirmed nor denied this, but only teased the possibility of it being available on backwards compatibility.
The title could soon be playable thanks to the console’s backwards compatibility feature, which is now in development. The Xbox One deserves the awesome back catalog of Xbox 360 and it will certainly be a blast to play our favorites.
With Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4 and eventually even Halo 3: ODST got given the remaster treatment for Xbox One.
Backwards Compatibility for Xbox One was announced at E3 earlier this year and will roll out in full this autumn with “over 100 games” available including many exclusives. “Forza Motorsport 6” has already released to critical acclaim.
