A declared no-fly zone over the wedding of supermodel Bar Refaeli was canceled by Israel’s transportation minister. “Equality and the appearance of such must be preserved with regard to the granting of flight permits”.

The highest ranks of the CAA and the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) had initially issued last week’s official directive. Local media reported that there were plans to have five drones, two helicopters and an observation balloon for the wedding.

The Ministry of Transportation in its earlier response to the planned closure had said that the decision was made for safety reasons since a large number of aircraft will be occupying the area.

Uri Peretz, owner of the helicopters hired by the couple, told the Hebrew-language news website Ynet on Monday that the company plans to file a petition in court in a bid to close the airspace.

Refaeli’s current fiancé, Ezra, is the heir to giant Israeli food importing company Neto ME Holdings, Ltd. She has previously said that she wants to raise a big Jewish family with him. This followed the release of a CAA directive, announcing that pilots would be forbidden from flying within four kilometers of, and below 3,000 feet above, the wedding venue from 5 p.m. Thursday, September 24 until 2 a.m. Friday, September 25.

The 30-year old model, which formerly dated actor Leonardo DiCaprio, roused controversy in days gone by in Israel by not carrying out her two years of compulsory military service.
