According to My San Antonio, the Troup, Texas woman wrote on her Facebook page, “I need someone to come shoot my dog, nobody here has the heart do it!. No one here has the heart to do it. We will provide the gun”. In the post she even offers to provide the gun. The freakish posting on Facebook book, made by a woman who lives in Troupe, set off a deluge of comments by individuals who read the unusual and dark request. That was my first instinct, because it would just never occur to me that someone would kill their own dog or any pet for the reason these people apparently wanted to.

Eventually, along with two animal control officers, the team found the dog and took “Cinnamon” into custody. “You people are the f****ng devil”. Cinnamon will stay in foster care until she is permanently adopted.

“It’s devastating”, said animal shelter coordinator Nanette Moss.

When a reporter from KYTX-TV came to the woman’s residence in hoping to speak to her, her son answered the door and said that they would not be saying anything because “I know how the media works”. Turns out, the dog is a 3-year-old Saint Bernard/English bulldog mix named Cinnamon.

The Facebook post was a criminal act, KHOU reported, but the dog’s owner, who was not identified, was not charged with a crime because she handed the dog to animal control following backlash on social media. “She’s a sweet dog and how can somebody shoot a sweet dog?” Since she is not facing charges, we will not release the woman’s name.
