One big inning did the trick.

Omar Infante drove in a career-high seven runs and the Kansas City Royals overcame some early sloppiness for an 8-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.

The Chicago White Sox are in the role of spoilers and not an easy out for playoff bound teams.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia nearly made a career play he would remember against the Oakland Athletics. That was until he didn’t quite make the play and as a result the White Sox ended up losing the game. He walked one and struck out six. Q pitched phenomenal. I have to be there to get his back.

Chicago sent 11 hitters to the plate in the fourth to extend their lead to 9-1. Starter Corey Kluber gave up three runs over four innings but the pen couldn’t hold the line with Kyle Crockett and Gavin Floyd allowing five runs.

“Nobody feels worse than me right now”, Robertson said. “It’s baseball”.

Oakland, which won 17-6 Tuesday night, pulled to 9-3 in the sixth on Billy Butler’s two-run homer before Jake Smolinski added a solo shot in the ninth. He made the catch but didn’t maintain full possession and as a result the Athletics took a 4-2 lead and won the game. After Adam Eaton lined a leadoff triple to wall in right center field, Carlos Sanchez followed with a two-run homer into the right-field bullpen off Martin. “You might as well take advantage of it, throw strikes so your defense can work for you”.

“We know he’s a good pitcher”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. None of the previous 14 players to play on both sides of Chicago never accomplished the feat.

“I saw him catch it, and when I saw the bullpen’s reaction, it was a pretty cool feeling”, Butler said. “I’m surprised it hasn’t happened”. “When I fell into the fence, the ball came out of my glove”.

Athletics: INF Danny Valencia (trapezius muscle stiffness) started at third base after missing two games. The hope is he’ll return sometime during the weekend series in Houston….

White Sox: OF Trayce Thompson (hyperextended left elbow) missed his third straight game.

[NBC SHOP: Gear up, White Sox fans!].

After falling short in his first start of the season, Nolin rebounded with a flourish on Saturday by allowing one run and five hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-3 victory over Texas. It was his fifth scoreless outing in his last six appearances, and one more indication that he might be recovered from the shoulder injury that sidelined him for all but one appearance during the season’s first four and a half months.
