Tony Fadell will be joined by Ivy Ross, a fashion industry veteran who the search giant hired to lead the Glass team past year.

In addition, Project Aura will not fall under Google’s “Alphabet” conglomerate, but will instead remain as a separate entity with Nest CEO Tony Fadell continuing to have a high-level oversight of the project.

Business Insider also notes that to support the re-organization Google has also been on a hiring spree, picking up several members of Amazon’s “Lab126” hardware division, including people who have previously worked on Amazon’s Fire TV Stick.

The expectation is that Project Aura will provide a home for some of Google’s weirder technology projects, including its virtual reality effort Google Cardboard, and gesture input technology, which is known as Soli.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) recently said that it will fired bunch of it engineers at its Fire Phone segment. The new subsidiary also has its sights on many more engineers from outside Google, including the three from Amazon’s Lab 126, as 30 more jobs are listed for the new subsidiary since this Monday (Sept. 14, 2015) on Google’s jobs available at Project Aura, Glass and Beyond listings on its web site.

It’s unclear at this point what, exactly, Project Aura will look like, but the report describes it as “a much-needed re-branding to the tattered Glass image”.

Project Aura remains a mystery as of this writing, although there are speculations that the wearable is geared to becoming a VR (virtual reality) device.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has changed the name of its Google Glass project to Project Aura and appointed new officials for this project.

The initial version of Glass, which sold for $1,500, prompted a privacy backlash because users could record video in public places without others noticing. She is now Aura’s manager of technical program management. The third is Tina Chen, who left Lab126 after working on the retailer’s streaming box and Echo last month.
