According to eMarketer February report, the expected Pinterest user base would be 47.1 million monthly active users in 2015, and rise to 59.3 million by 2019.



The new disclosure comes as the five-year-old company has been working to aggressively expand overseas and grow its young business into the next advertising powerhouse.

Until today, the Pinterest audience could only be gauged by third-party estimates. Pinterest is, however, catching up to Twitter, which boasts 304 million monthly active users.

There will more than likely be quite a lot of apps for iOS to be updated in the near future.

Launched in 2010, Pinterest allows people to organize, save and share images so they can plan their dream wedding, remodel their homes, try a new recipe or more.

In the past year Pinterest has been building on this base to deepen its push into advertising, launching so-called “promoted pins”.

He also noted that the site isn’t exclusively dependent on one type of ad budget and already pulls dollars from marketer’s display budgets. And in June, it rolled out Buyable Pins, a way for retailers to sell their goods directly on the network. Global users have doubled in the past year and they now make up about 45 percent of total users.

As you view Pins, Pinners and boards, you’ll be able to search for them later right from your iPhone or iPad’s search screen.

The latter already has some keen interest from IFTTT, Polyvore, and Topshop, so these numbers could be used to show that it’s a worthwhile effort for other developers and retail partners.

The site is wildly popular among fashion enthusiasts, with almost 300 million Pinterest “boards” dedicated to the topic, according to the Pinterest statement.
