Like always, Nintendo is yet to say a word but I have to say NX is shaping up to be quite a project. The gaming giant behind the yet to be seen console has been keen on keeping a tight lip about the NX.
At the same time the dual screen functionality of the Wii U and its GamePad controller has a lot of potential, and now a newly discovered controller patent registered by Nintendo is raising eyebrows across the internet.
Nintendo has reportedly already filed for the patent for this new device.
First off, a report that came out back in July, courtesy of Digitimes, suggested that Nintendo has already asked their supply chain partners to begin pilot production on the console no later than October of this year. The patent showcases a gamepad which looks very similar to the Wii U’s gamepad but it does sport a few variations.
Unlike other Nintendo handheld models, the minimal button controller focuses more on moving its rotational shoulders, an innovative approach the company may be shifting to in an attempt to evolve, and even shake up, the way video games are played.
The rumored controller for the NX is shown having two control sticks, two face buttons, a directional pad, and what appears to be a pair of scrollable shoulder buttons, according to Tech Radar.
This isn’t the first leaked patent for Nintendo.
These patents could be the early designs of that portable device rumoured last month, although many patents put forward by companies never reach fruition.
The Nintendo NX would be comparable to the PS4 and Xbox One, perhaps gambling on the lifecycle of both consoles lasting as long as the last-gen Xbox 360 and PS3. It is not yet known how well this upcoming console will fare against other consoles but players could expect another totally new experience from Nintendo in the future.
