The new ninth-grader told the newspaper he enjoys robotics and was looking to continue his interests as he started high school so he showed the clock, which had a digital display and a circuit board, to a teacher.

“They arrested me and they told me that I committed the crime of a hoax bomb, a fake bomb”, he later explained.

“It made me feel like I wasn’t human, it made me feel like a criminal”.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd said investigators determined that the clock was indeed a clock and that there would be no charges forthcoming.

An American Muslim boy Ahmed Mohamed is breaking the internet with his new invention. Both officers and the city’s mayor have defended the procedures as necessary to curb the persisting threat of violence in USA schools, but they’ve been vehemently accused of Islamophobia by pretty much everyone else.

In a post to his site, Zuckerberg said, “Having the skill and ambition to build something cool should lead to applause”. “The future belongs to people like Ahmed”, Mr. Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page.

One officer, who had never met Ahmed before, reportedly said, “Yup”.

Irving Independent School District Spokesperson Lesley Weaver said students and staff are encouraged to report any suspicious items or behavior, according to a statement to NBC5.

“We should inspire more kids like you to like science”, the United States president added. His teacher, apparently, found the homemade clock similar in appearance to a bomb and therefore alerted the police.

“This is an instance where you have people who have otherwise dedicated their lives to teach our children who failed in that effort, potentially because of some things in their conscience and the power of stereotypes”, he said.

The White House then invited Ahmed to Astronomy Night in October, an annual event that brings together astronauts, scientists and other professionals.

Meanwhile, Mohamed seems to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.

The teenager, who remains suspended until Thursday, also said he planned to take the USA president up on his offer to visit him at the White House.

Many high profile personalities have joined the campaign expressing their support on Facebook and Twitter sharing emotions responding to the socially concerning act.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Ahmed has accepted Obama’s invitation to come to The White House (wearing a kickass NASA t-shirt).
