In a nutshell, for $300, you’re getting a smartphone with top-of-the-line hardware specifications with two operating systems. And it comes from a player that you would definitely have not been able to guess.
One must say that the Elephone Vowney certainly looks the part of a high end handset, where it boasts of all the sleek lines that a flagship device should carry, although interestingly enough, the price will be a very reasonable $299 – and this is an unlocked device, mind you. It’s latest device, called the Vowney, is no exception, offering high-end hardware and the option to choose between Windows 10 or Android 5.0 Lollipop software. The screen on the phone is a 5.5 inch QHD IPS panel giving the phone an incredible PPI of 535. The Elephone Vowney is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. The storage has a capacity 64GB and can be extended up to another 64 GB.
Another notable feature of the Elephone Vowney smartphone is its 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor IMX230 sensor. However, this seems to have changed now with the launch of Windows 10 mobile, which comes with many advanced features and updates – one being the Continuum.
Also, Elephone confirmed the smartphone will be powered by a 3,800 mAh battery, but then backtracked and said the Vowney will pack a 4,200 mAh battery inside. Elephone has chose to go ahead and place a fingerprint scanner too at the back of the phone just below the camera lens which has a bump. Meanwhile, the front camera provides 8-megapixels. It could well be that the Vowney is the first ever Windows 10 Mobile, even before any of the Lumia devices have it officially. It will be available in Black and White colours.
