According to officials, the attack happened shortly before 4 a.m. on Ward Avenue in an unincorporated part of Charleston County.
Family members of a man hacked to death with a machete during a North Charleston home invasion told the two men charged with his killing that they hope the brothers rot in hell.
Deputies say a relative of the victim and a baby were also at the home, but were not harmed. Jesus Arizmendi surrendered himself earlier today to the Charleston County Sheriff’s office. Eric Watson. Then the three suspects fled the area.
Jose Arizmendi was arrested shortly afterwards. Officers say the case is still under investigation.
Affidavits say Jose, Jesus and one other suspect forced entry inside Alverez’s home and went after the victim with long-bladed knives.
Deputies found a man dead in the front yard near the home, according to Watson. The victim was then taken outside by the suspects, where they continued their assaults on the victim, where he eventually died.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
