The mother of a two-year-old girl killed in western Canada broke down in tears after an old friend of hers was charged with first-degree murder. I swear she used to do it just to irritate me.

“She was smart, beautiful, the greatest child ever”, she said. I’m going to miss absolutely everything.

The child’s body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in a rural area near Blairmore.

The superintendent said the Amber Alert program was “critical to resolving this situation in Blairmore”, adding the program is a “critical tool when it’s established a missing child might be vulnerable to harm”.

“I can report that media and social media engagement on this disturbing case has been very helpful to the investigation”. But there was yet no sign of Hailey.

Police have said Saretzky and Blanchette were acquaintances, but Dunbar didn’t know how they knew one another.

Court documents show he faced charges of possession of marijuana and stolen property in 2012 and 2014 but those charges were dropped.

A woman working at the establishment said the accused didn’t work there but did live in a home behind it. Police had the alley behind the cleaners closed off Wednesday.

“We’re still exploring those connections”.

“They stand strong with each other and with the victims’ families”.

“It’s going to take us a long time to heal from this. Over the past two days, we joined you in your anxiety and worry, and now we share in your loss, and offer our deepest condolences”. “I don’t know why anybody would do this to her”.

Blanchette has been described by friends and family as a devoted single father. Hailey was born on New Year’s Eve 2012. He said his daughter and the accused were friends years ago but were not known to be involved in a relationship beyond that.

The time police say they believe Hailey was abducted from her home in Blairmore, Alta.

“Terry was an awesome father”. “He did everything he could for that little girl”.

When Dunbar last spoke to Blanchette on September 9, the pair talked about their daughter and made arrangements for Hailey’s next trip to Edmonton.

“I’m a mess right now”.

“The citizens of the Crowsnest Pass area have also demonstrated an wonderful resiliency in the face of these crimes”, RCMP Supt. Information related to what we found will not be released in the interest of the investigation.

The mayor said the events have been devastating. “That’s why we raised our kids here, because it’s a small community. This is just heart wrenching”, Painter said.

“Now that Mr. Saretzky has been charged, our first priority is protecting the integrity of the investigation to date and to ensure he receives a fair trial”.

Evidence of the community’s empathy could be found Wednesday evening when Blanchette’s friends returned to his duplex to collect his cats and tidy the residence ahead of his mother’s arrival from the United States.
