Airtel Signs Mobile Payments Deal with Uber

US-based taxi-hailing app Uber has signed an agreement with telecom major Bharti Airtel to offer free high-speed Internet in its cabs across the country.



This integration will provide riders with another hassle-free payment option and will make Uber the first technology platform to officially launch Airtel Money.

Airtel consumers will receive exclusive promotions, discounts and experiences from Uber.

Moreover, Uber taxi service also facilitates the user by the facility of using Airtel’s mobile wallet service- Airtel Money for the payments.

The service being started by Friday will equip all its India based drivers with Airtel Mobile devices which will create 4G Wi-Fi hot spots in their cars.

But surely, the fight is going to be interesting if certain facts are taken into account. It is available to all Airtel users and the company keeps providing offers to attract more customers to use Airtel Money.

“Our partnership with Uber is directly in line with our commitment to offer innovative and relevant services for our customers”. In addition, Airtel will be providing free 4G Internet to riders in Mumbai and soon will be rolled out for all Uber riders pan-India.

Uber is making serious moves in India. “This unique partnership is built on our shared visions and strengths of broad, reliable networks and connecting people to their world, anytime, anywhere”, said Amit Jain, president, Uber India. “Additionally, Uber will accept money through Airtel Money as a mode of payment”, said Srini Gopalan, director, consumer business of Bharti Airtel.
