An Aurora drivers will have an accident once every 8.5 years, which is 118th of the 200 cities in the survey.

Seattle drivers have gotten worse, the study found. Last year, they were ranked No. 173 on the list.

Lancaster, in Los Angeles County, ranks as the safest large city in California in terms of auto collision frequency, according to a report from Allstate Insurance Company.

Bellevue drivers were slightly better – they were only worse than 174 other cities – and Tacoma drivers were much better, ranking 164th on the list.

According to the report, Seattle drivers go about 6.9 years between accidents and are 46 percent more likely to get into a crash than the national average. Based on insurance claims, drivers there go an average of 7.1 years between crashes.

The worst drivers in the country are in Boston, ranked 200th. For a while, our driving skills were actually improving.

But since then, it’s been all downhill.

It’s not hard to imagine the population boom in the Seattle area has a little something to do with it. By population density, Seattle is ranked as the 159th safest driving city. The average Boston resident motorist averages only 3.9 years without crashing into something.
