West Ham’s Adrian to serve first of three-game ban

Last season’s leading scorer Wilson fired home after Simon Francis had pounced on an Aaron Cresswell defensive error to open the scoring in the 11th minute before doubling the lead prior to the half-hour mark when another Cresswell gaffe allowed him to rocket past Darren Randolph.

Bilic’s half time team talk seemed to do the trick, as the Hammrrs clawed their way back from two goals down to all square in the space of 15 minutes, thanks to a Mark Noble penalty and a instinctive finish from midfield powerhouse Cheikhou Kouyate.

Marc Pugh restored Bournemouth’s lead and Wilson completed his treble from the penalty spot but Modibo Maiga’s third for West Ham ensured it would be a nervy conclusion for the south-coast team.

Manchester United’s 100 percent start ended when they were held to a goalless draw against a battling Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

For Bournemouth to survive the top tier, it will rely heavily on Wilson to carry on finding the back of the net.

Austin, who was called up for the global fixtures against Ireland and Slovenia in the summer by Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson, has been the subject of much transfer speculation this month and his fourth goal in three games will have done little to dampen the talk.

Eddie Howe knows how important Wilson will be to trying to keep Bournemouth in the top flight and was thrilled for the 23-year-old after the game on Saturday evening.

Bilic said: “Half of the world is trying to get a striker”.

“I congratulate Bournemouth, they deserve it, they were good. Or in style. But in the Premier League, against most of the clubs, you have to dig in to have a chance to get points from every game”.

West Ham were without their first choice keeper after losing Adrian to suspension following a dismissal against Leicester last weekend. The first halves against Leicester and Bournemouth were just not good enough.

Those misses and a great Randolph save to deny a goal bound Max Gradel strike in the 45th minute proved to be a turning point as West Ham surprisingly came back into the match. We got ourselves back in it at 2-2 and the crowd is with us at home, and then we made another mistake and they scored again. It was an enterprising display which looked to have yielded an early goal, only for it to be ruled out, while the effort that decided the game should not have stood due to the recent changes to the offside rule, so there was a sense of injustice within the Cherries camp that they came away with nothing.

Carl Jenkinson’s late red card means that West Ham have had FIVE players dismissed in just nine matches under Bilic, including their failed Europa League qualifying bid.

Captain Tommy Elphick has urged his team to forget the last two matches and look forward.
