The first of two massive story expansions, “Hearts of Stone”, now has a release date and will launch on October 13th, 2015.

The expansion also introduced a new “Runeworld” system that allows you to experiment with different play styles and experiences.

The “Hearts of Stone” plot will feature Geralt accepting a new quest to kill a bandit captain named Olgierd von Everec, who is rumored to have the power of immortality, IGN reported. How you defeat him is up to you, with the promise of the involvement of break-in artists, a ghost and some of “the most bizzare creatures Geralt has ever faced”. There is also a limited edition boxed version that will go for around $20, including two physical sets of Gwent cards (the Scoia’tael and Monster decks to be specific). The Witcher 3 Expansion Pass – which costs $24.99 – is available from the Xbox Games Store if anyone wants to purchase both add-on packs for a small discount. Whether you have finished the main story or not, The Heart of Stone story DLC will need you to be at least level 30 to access it.

Hearts of Stone” is promised as having 10 hours of new content, including new characters, romance options, monsters, and a new storyline. I had better get my butt into gear though, as the first expansion for one of the best games of the year is set to drop October 13. Alternatively, players will also be able to purchase the cards directly from CD Projekt RED, though a price point has not yet been revealed. Inside this box, fans will receive a digital download code for the expansion and of course, as promised, the physical, real-world, Gwent cards. As you’d expect, this downloadable content expansion will be available digitally, but a limited boxed edition will be released as well.
