We can see that Skype is down on September 21 with some surprise and unexpected connection problems. Skype Support’s offiical Twitter account confirmed the problems the service was facing. As it stands, the service is still down, with Skype’s engineers reportedly working on a fix.
Skype says that messages “are still being delivered as usual. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused while we get this resolved”.
As suggested in online forums, the following countries have so far experienced Skype down-time: { Russia | Russia}, Spain, Mexico, US, the { UK | UK}, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, China, Sweden, South Africa, Finland, Australia, and more.
Interestingly, the web version of Skype still works, so if you’re in desperate need to communicate with a contact, you could try your luck on the web client.
“We are working hard to fix an issue which is preventing some users from logging in and using Skype”, a Microsoft spokesperson said. We will update this with the latest updates as soon as Skype acknowledges the outage.
Skype has an estimated 4.9 million daily active users (and more than 300-million monthly active users). Those affected by the on-going issues won’t be able to make any calls, all contacts will show as offline including yourself and you won’t be able to change your status.
