It’s clear that Oculus (and Samsung) are taking a two-pronged approach to luring people into VR.

In terms of competitors, while we don’t know specific numbers yet, Facebook’s Oculus Rift and Sony’s Playstation VR, which are both set to be released at some point in 2016, will likely have price points approaching the $500 region.

On top of a decreased weight, a newly designed foam padding should make the headset more comfortable to wear. A brand new consumer version of Samsung’s Gear VR is slated for release ]come November and will be compatible with nearly all Samsung phones launched this year.

Unlike that device, which harnesses PC power, the Gear VR focuses on offering virtual reality provided by Samsung’s range of Galaxy smartphones.

Samsung said that the Gear VR will start selling this fall but did not give any information about its availability in India.

Samsung announced its latest version of its Gear VR virtual reality headset powered by Oculus. They include Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5.

The company said Netflix is coming to Gear VR, though you can also download it directly to your existing hardware right now. With this device, new content has been made available including services such as Twitch, TiVo, Netflix, Lionsgate, Hulu and gaming titles such as Minecraft.

The Gear VR, which is developed with Facebook-owned VR company Oculus, will go on sale this autumn for (£65).

The Rift, meanwhile, finally has part of a price tag: at least 0, according to Oculus’ Nate Mitchell. This time around, Gear VR is meant to make the whole experience of the VR headset more intuitive and is 22% lighter.
