Oppo Launches R5s With Improved Specs

It sports a 5.2-unch wide display, with a 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution, and 424ppi pixel density, the same as that of the previous Oppo R5.



Chinese device maker Oppo has announced an upgraded variant of R5 smartphone – Oppo R5s.

The 6-inch Oppo R7 Plus is a capable device, with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (expandable via microSD memory cards), a 13-megapixel camera and a fingerprint reader.

The newly launched R5s is only listed in the company’s European website at 199 euros.

The Oppo R5s will be available from OppoStyle starting August 25 for around $225. It runs on 64-bit Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (2.1GHz quad-core + 1.5GHz quad-core) alongside Adreno 405. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies as well. The 155 grams weighing device measures 148.9×74.5×4.85mm. It is backed by a 2000mAh battery and supports VOOC charging technology which is said to charge the battery from 0 to 75 percent in around 30 minutes, according to the company. And the connectivity options that comes packed with the device are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G, GPRS/ EDGE, and Micro-USB. The cameras remain the same, including the 13MP snapper on back that employs the Sony IMX214 sensor, and features an aperture of f/2.0. Instead, Oppo has made a decision to put Android 4.4.4 KitKat platform inside, along with ColorOS 2.0 UI on top.

In other news, Oppo R7 Plus is finally going on sale (via GSMArena) in limited markets. While the R5s offers modest improvements over its predecessor, it does offer added RAM and storage, two important smartphone features.
