Fans across the world woke up to news on Monday (24 August) that Niall, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles were preparing to call it quits in March next year.

Their last scheduled tour date is October 31, 2015, at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England.

A member pop phenomenon One Direction has denied reports the band is to split, saying instead the group is to take a “break” in 2016.

Meanwhile, X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini – who as we reported earlier, along with boss Simon Cowell, defended the group’s decision to take a year out – has revealed that Liam wrote a song that featured on her last album.

He tweeted: ‘We still have lots we want to achieve!

He tweeted: “Your support is truly indescribable!”

Speculation has become fact as the members of One Direction have confirmed they are going on a hiatus for at least one year.

Then, Louis Tomlinson became a father, thus breaking the hearts of “Larry” lovers everywhere.

Julian Bunetta, the bands producer, took it upon himself to let everyone know just how hard they have worked over the years.

Band member Niall Horan was the first to break the bands silence on Twitter.

Many people have already started to suggest what we are going to see the One Direction boys doing next, insisting that the One Direction split will be for good and that we will not see a reunion for many years to come. “There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision”, a source told the Sunday. NSYNC said something similar to this just before Justin Timberlake went solo and the band broke up.

There is no tour scheduled for the new album.

The boys will simply be going on a break.

The source added, “They will remain together and plan to work together in the future”.

It seems Payne may want to finetune his songwriting, producing and DJ skills rather than a solo career, the report says.
