New Mexico State University said about seven to 10 people had items stolen off a team bus during Saturday’s football game in Gainesville, Fla.



New Mexico State had a rough enough night on the field against Florida at The Swamp.

“When I got back to the bus after the postgame press conference, I was informed that the bus had been broken into or left unattended”, the school’s athletic director, Mario Moccia, told Jason Groves of the Las Cruces Sun-News. “Well it’s a first”. But, you know what they say, “Things could always be worse”.

“We had seven folks that could not take their automobiles residence”, he stated.

“The things underneath the bus were not touched”, Moccia said.

“My frustrations … are really aimed at the thieves. I am dissatisfied that the bus driver was not with the auto as a result of that is what my private expectations can be”, Moccia stated. “But we’ll deal with that down the road”.

A spokesperson for the Florida campus police department said a witness noticed two people involved with the thefts, which apparently happened during the game.

“It was either broken into or left unlocked”, he said.

“There was a large contingent of officers working that game”, Barber said. “Majority were inside the stadium, but there were some outside”, Barber said.

He added that police would not release an official report on the incident before Tuesday.

“It isn’t sensible for everyone to lug all their belongings right into a recreation”, Moccia stated.
