The company’s 6th generation Intel Core processors promise to up the ante by delivering superior processing performance, using only the lowest energy levels to power a wider range of devices.

The chip giant is targeting a major refresh cycle that it believes is long overdue as consumers are missing out on the latest developments in computing, using machines with dead batteries and which are too slow to load up.

Describing the new “Skylake” line of Core processors as the “best ever” processors, Intel said that the processors – which will take barely half a second to start – will herald the next generation of PCs. The personal computer industry is having many hopes from the new launch, as it expects that it bring customers. Around 300 laptops are in the making and 500 plus desktop designs. Keep in mind, too, that Intel’s Skylake isn’t only just a chip-it’s also a collection of technologies created to revamp the PC.

The migration of a powerful Intel Xeon processor to a mobile workstation is notable, since it usually resides in stationary, tower computers and even servers.

Along with this, it also unveiled updated Core M processors -the Core M3, M5 and M7 chips – meant particularly for tablets and 2-in-1 hybrid devices that double up as tablets and notebooks with detachable keyboards. “This is a processor that’s designed for now and that works perfectly for an operating system that is designed for now”, said Intel’s Kirk Skaugen introducing the chips on stage. Intel claims that new Skylake chips will offer more than double the performance while delivering three times the battery life, pretty much a ideal combination for mobile computing. The 6th Gen Intel Core processors deliver significant improvements in graphics performance to offer stunning visuals for gaming as well as compelling 4K content creation and media playback.

In addition, the 6th Gen Intel Core and Intel Xeon platforms will offer a variety of new features and experiences.

With these processors newly launched we will be seeing lots of product releases featuring the new mobile CPUs and supporting hardware releases such as motherboards. The technology allows users to share information from their laptop to computers onto a projector, monitor, or TV, without connecting wires. Intel forecasts delivery of 48 processors pertaining to its 6th generation, which would feature an Intel Pro graphics and Intel Iris.

The firm already has facial recognition technology in its RealSense cameras, and the presentation showed this being used to gain entrance to a vehicle, as well as giving “eyes” to drones, which can then manoeuvre around obstacles on their own.
