“Mayorga was tough”.

Mosley has invested a good sum of money in this PPV promotion, reportedly a million dollars or more, and things are looking bleak.

The 43-year-old Mosley (48-9-1, 40 KOs) floored Mayorga with a body shot at 2:59 of the sixth round after largely controlling an uneventful bout at the historic Forum.

This pathetic, macho nonsense is typical of Mayorga, who in the past has made a habit of challenging his opponents’ masculinity while threatening to sleep with their partners.

For much of the fight, Mosley pressed the attack, hitting Mayorga with sharp right hands to the head and body. But Mayorga – who came in seven pounds over the 158-pound weight limit at a hefty 165.4 pounds – wasn’t simply going to roll over for Mosley.

Kim isn’t alone. A fighter of Mosley’s ilk has set such a high standard for himself that it seems silly to keep fighting.

It was far more fun than it was supposed to be for a rematch of a fight from 2008 featuring two fighters well past their respective primes. The Pomona fighter staggered around the ring. Mayorga tried to imply the punch was low, but this tweeted video from Zombie Prophet proves the left hook was legal and right on the button.

The former three-division world champ could’ve lent his name to any number of smaller endeavors, which would’ve provided a small return on his investment while allowing him to maintain his dignity and long-term financial health.

In a ideal world, Mosley would walk away from the sport after notching this win, but in the Periscope interview linked in this tweet, he says he “plans to fight again in December”. Luna, 21, used her reach to keep from sustaining too many flush shots.

The 10-round fight went the distance, and despite Shea having a bloody and somewhat swollen face, the judges ruled the fight a split-decision draw.
