“Also, there were secret deals that allows Iran to collect its own soil to prove compliance without any inspections, and most outrageously, a secret deal that would have the USA administration defending Iran against attacks from “outside countries”-in other words, Israel if it would seek to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program”.
“Through this joint initiative, we want to demonstrate that this is not a partisan issue, nor a Jewish issue, nor only an Israel issue, but it is an American issue, and millions of grassroots Americans are opposed to this disastrous deal”, stated Susan Michael, U.S. Director for the worldwide Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). “It is important to reach out to American public opinion with the fact that Iran is the enemy of the US, it declares this openly, and Israel is the ally of the U.S. This understanding has important ramifications for our future security”.
Barack Obama was the one who gave the last word on this pact with Iran.
As US secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton spent plenty of time in daunting foreign territory. Rather, his behavior since July has provided strong evidence that he not only doesn’t care about bipartisan support for Israel but, rather, is actively working to swing Jewish support to the Republicans while virtually writing off, even deliberately alienating, traditionally pro-Israel liberal Democrats.
It went on to condemn Hamas for its “terrorist tactics”, and reiterated that the U.K.’s “priority for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains the achievement of a two-state solution, based on 1967 borders”.
This regrettable breach in the Israeli-American relationship need never have occurred. This battle served only to seriously erode U.S.-Israeli relations.
A corresponding question is will American Jews who disagree with Israeli policies come to realize that this is more than a family squabble?
It is probably accurate to describe current events as doing lasting damage to American Jewish organizations. From the anti-Zionist perspective this is all for the good. Obviously, lobbying has been intense and increasingly bitter on both sides.
On the other hand, that evolving alliance will continue to alienate more liberal Jews and Democratic politicians. Israel and Egypt made peace in 1979. According to Palestinian Authority officials, the council is due to convene soon.
