According to Phone Arena, the surprising absence of the iPad Air 3 after Apple’s iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 were introduced as a surprise and consumers can’t help asking if there’s going to be an iPad Air 3 coming. While this makes for a slimmer iPad it’s noted by the iFixit team that this will increase cost for fixing a cracked screen. Better yet, is there an actual iPad Air 3 in the midst? This means a pixels density of roughly 401 ppi for the 9.7 inches of the Air 3’s display and an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Unfortunately, however, the battery unit on the Air 3 will supposedly be somewhat weaker than the superbly powerful, long lasting 7,340 mAh cell that juices the iPad Air 2 we already have. For instance, the FaceTime camera has slimmed down, the battery has shrunk, the LCD and front panel glass are fused together and antennas have been moved both to the top and bottom of the device. iFixit’s full teardown provides additional details on all the nips and tucks in the device. Its internal storage comes in three variations from 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The new iPad Air 3 will be just 5mm thick and will feature IP rating for water and dust resistance. The reason behind the concept is the possibility of creating the gadget on a waterproof profile as well as thinner body structure. This was followed by a report by a Taiwanese publication stating that Apple had dropped plans to launch a successor to the iPad Air 2. The only thing missing though is the release date and the actual specs which have to be confirmed.

Apple itself has made no official or even informal comments on the validity of these rumors, but judging by the company’s slow but sometimes nonetheless surprisingly adventurous climb into 4K display technology, we do see some plausibility here.

Apple recently joined the trend of gaming TV wherein they launched their Apple TV, a likely gaming console that will compete with big names such as Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation.
