It’s called the Civic Tourer Active Life.
The public will be able to get a close look at the Active Life concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show which starts next week. As its name implies, the Japanese auto maker’s next concept is based on the Civic Tourer station wagon that’s sold in Europe and in a handful of other global markets.
While this model is more a study in space maximization than a likely production model, it’s a slick concept that would be awesome for the traveling cyclist couple. There is also a retractable arm which can be extended from the rack, making maintenance and repairs easier. The interior will be accessorized and will display the suitability for an active lifestyle. Although we love saving gas, what would really make this concept pop would be stuffing that barn screamer of an engine from the Civic Type R under the hood.
Other storage solutions include a specially designed aerodynamic roof box, for carrying smaller accessories such as helmets, while squeezed into the Active Life Concept’s 1,668-litre load space are a toolbox, water tank and front wheel holder.
The exterior is equally eye-catching with its custom blue paint and sleek silver roof line, while there are new 18-inch black alloys and a custom design rear bumper for the Concept. The front seats combine both suede and leather and feature a carbon tape with blue piping that runs along the centre and along the upper outer areas of the seat, continuing into the suede door lining.
That vehicle now hold the Guinness World Record for fuel efficiency, in June averaging 100.31 miles per gallon in a 25-day, 13,498 kilometre drive through 24 European Union countries.
