A longtime FBI agent with extensive experience investigating public corruption cases is taking over as head of the agency’s Chicago office.

Anderson, who led the FBI’s New Orleans division for the last three years, has been named the FBI’s division chief in Chicago.

Anderson began with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1995.

By 2006, Anderson was the chief of the Public Corruption Unit at FBI headquarters, where he launched an initiative targeting Iraq reconstruction-related fraud and corruption, the FBI said. Among other duties, he oversaw the FBI’s performance appraisal and management system, awards, payroll and benefits, retirements, the on-boarding new employees program, and the Human Resources Division service center.

Anderson began his Federal Bureau of Investigation career in 1995, and besides New Orleans, he has worked in Miami, Washington, D.C., and Dallas.

He oversaw a number of notable investigations during his tenure, including the corruption probe that landed former Mayor Ray Nagin behind bars. He also received a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University in Los Angeles.

Anderson will start in Chicago in mid-October.
