GoPro Inc (NASDAQ:GPRO) share value has depreciated quite a lot this year. “And Flip, an impressive video camera in its own right, surged in popularity until it was usurped by cellphone cameras”.
GoPro’s stock is already down 44% compared to a year ago .
In an article last weekend, Barron’s magazine wrote that the company’s stock could fall to $25 a share.
Shares are down 2% from the IPO last June. Despite the jump, there were skeptics that wondered if the company could beat competitors who could launch similar products at lower prices.
After hitting an all-time high above the $98 mark back in October, shares of GoPro have generally moved in a downward trajectory.
GoPro stock was down more than 8% to above 32 in afternoon trading on the stock market today.
Eule said that competition is a large downside for GoPro, noting that Apple obtained a patent for a camera that could compete with the company’s devices in January.
While many analysts have pondered over the possibility of Apple acquiring GoPro, Rob Lopez, the head of institutional sales for Vertical Group, an independent research firm, believes that the iPhone would instead move towards in-house camera production, as quoted by Barron’s.
