Global winger ‘in talks’ over Tottenham transfer

Erik Lamela’s father and agent confirms that his son is negotiating with Inter Milan as a Tottenham Hotspur exit nears.

Roberto Mancini’s side are keen to add attacking width to their lineup, with Wolfsburg’s Ivan Perisic and Ezequiel Lavezzi of PSG their primary targets.

Lamela has largely struggled since joining Tottenham for an initial £25.8 million (fee via the Guardian) two years ago, with the Argentina global having failed to perform consistently and live up to the promise he showed at Roma.

“We’re talking with Inter, their interest is real”, he told Gazzetta dello Sport. We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.

Spurs paid a club record £30m to snap up the attacker once dubbed the “new Lionel Messi” from Roma in 2013 as part of their post-Gareth Bale transfer splurge.

“Italian football is likely more suited to him and his characteristics. We would come back in Serie A and we like Inter option”.

“We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations”.

Several high-profile players have left White Hart Lane this summer, with the aforementioned quartet joining Lewis Holtby, Younes Kaboul and Benjamin Stambouli in leaving the club.
