We’ve been informed that the LG G4 will certainly be receiving the update in a matter of months, if not weeks, while the next LG flagship MAY launch with Marshmallow onboard.
Although its successor Galaxy Note 5 has already been released, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 is still considered to be relatively new. From the looks of it, the cut-off for getting an LG device update is the LG G2. Google is widely believed to release the consumer version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow on September or October via its new LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus 6.
The following list of devices will see an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
It seems that other device makers have also started working on the update. While the device is over a year old it’s still well within the general 2-year lifespan of a modern high-end smartphone.
The latest version of Lollipop is now rolling out to the European version of the device, the one that bears the model number SM-N910F. This is partially because these devices are the ones people assume will have updates and partially because don’t yet have a “full” and “final” list of devices that’ll be updated.
But it is good to know that even if the LG G4 Pro will not run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, it will get updated to it soon enough (most likely before the end of 2015). As a result, if you are an LG customer, it’s best to wait for LG to make an official announcement regarding the updates. The update made its debut in the I/O conference that was held in May, according to The Verge. Jeff Gordon, Senior Global Online Communications Manager at HTC Corp., previously posted a tweet confirming the arrival of Android Marshmallow on the new HTC One M9 and M9+. Google has continuous named its releases in an alphabetical order with the names of candies like Donut, Jelly Bean and the latest Marshmallow. Predominant among these include a smoother UI feel, newer animation, enhanced battery life, faster task switcher animations and a host of general performance/stability improvements along with bug-fixes.
A new interface was introduced by Lollipop but after that, Marshmallow didn’t really change much. They, however, will be able to enjoy a much more powerful and efficient handset with the update’s promise of improved performance and stability. There are six core areas where the new features have mainly focused.
