The known Micromax’s “Yu” brand after launching a few smartphones and a fitness band, Micromax’s Yu Televentures have launched a portable printer “YuPix”. This pocket sized printer is fairly light weighing only 273 grams. It has dimensions of 2.99 x 6.01 x 0.94 inches(W*D*H) and has a net weight of 273gms including the battery and cartridge.
The app allows users to edit and print photographs without a computer and can print edited photos with a resolution of 1280x1920p(2.5Mpx). It is priced at Rs 6,999, and will go on sale from Monday onwards via Amazon India. The printer uses a unique cartridge, which has an integrated ink ribbon and photo paper.
The printing technology in YUPIX is “dye sublimation” with a resolution of 291 dpi and it supports JPEG format. The device is also claimed to be water and fingerprint resistant.
Connectivity options supported by YUPIX pocket printer are NFC/WiFi Direct/Wifi and users will need to download the app from the Google Play or iOS to take the pics.
It is quite interesting to see how smartphone manufacturer are trying to enter other markets as well but looking at the YuPix I can say it can be hit or there are also chances that it might be a fail.
