Wii U Zombi Game Headed to PS4, Xbox One, PCs

One of the most talked about launch titles for the Wii U was the survival-horror game, ZombiU.

When ZombiU first released in 2012, it gave Wii U owners the rare opportunity to enjoy a genuinely frightening experience on a platform that, even three years later, doesn’t have a lot of options for fans of the horror genre.

Ubisoft announced today that the PS4, Xbox One, and PC will soon fall victim to a zombie apocalypse. Ubisoft hasn’t shared details on what has been changed other than to say it is “optimized” for newer systems. It felt very much like you were actually looking down at your backpack, glancing furtively around for incoming danger. Zombi will remain a single-player experience. You’ll hit them over and over and over again, desperately hoping they’ll fall before a few others shamble up. Resources are limited, zombies populate the game’s world, and you never know where or when you’ll find a new weapon, ammo, or first-aid. To get your stuff back, you have to go kill your old self and loot your corpse. I’m wondering if this is going to feel like a different game without that controller. This sort of survival-zombie game could be a real scream in virtual reality. By the middle of 2013, those third-party game publishers bellowed loudly about why they had jumped ship-and loudest of all was Ubisoft, whose games Rayman Legends and ZombiU relied pretty heavily on the system’s touchscreen GamePad. The newly named Zombi will see a digital-only launch on August 18, but no real gameplay footage yet exists-just the above teaser video. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.
