WhatsApp has had a very fruitful and active day, going through no less than 5 updates in the span of 24 hours.
The new option can be found under “Chats and Calls” / Call Settings / Low data usage. Holding on to the conversation will pull up a menu showing you the “Mark as Unread” option below the archive chat, delete chat, email chat options.
WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging application has now been updated on the Android platform to include some brand new, never seen before features.
Starting with the first update and this we talked about as well is the “Mark As Unread” feature. Up until now, you had the ability to choose the sound made for group and individual chats, but this new update allows you to set separate custom notifications for different contacts.
Tones, vibration lengths and pop-up notifications can also be customised. They are given a green status, serving as a reminder for users to reply to someone another time.
And finally there are two new changes in the app’s settings.
From now on, you will have an option to lower down the data used while making or recieving a voice calls. Second is a small hint to Google Drive backups.
WhatsApp doesn’t seem to have pushed its latest version to Google Play yet, but you can download it from the company’s site.
This means that if everything goes well during testing we might see the new feature included in the stable version in the coming weeks.
Instead, those looking to make use of low-data calling need to download the update’s APK file and manually install the software.
WhatsApp is losing it’s touch. Other messengers are secure and have more features (wich are standard by now) like the ability to send Stickers (Telegram) or the ability create polls (Threema)!
