The new WhatsApp download is available.
The Google Drive backup feature in WhatsApp backs up and restores conversation history and media.
WhatsApp developers who come up with newer versions of the application every now and then has once again come with one more new version of the application for Android users. Earlier the developers announced that they will be releasing a new version with improved and advanced features.
A new version of Whatsapp download is released and is available to download.
So, install the WhatsApp 2.12.228 BETA on your Android device now and have a whole new experience. This is however rolled out in BETA version.
Based on the various reports, I haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly where it’s working and where it isn’t, so my best advice is for you to go grab version 2.12.231, pray to the WhatsApp gods while twisting and dancing around, sacrifice a few insects or fruits or veggies as you wait for the app to install, launch it, and hope Drive backup is there.
After the installation is done, you are all set with the latest WhatsApp BETA version on your Android smartphone. Some say the option is only available on Android 5.0 Lollipop and above, others say you can see it on any device if you remove the app and reinstall it, others are finding it regardless of their Android version, and some are proclaiming it’s a server-side switch (though that last one is very unlikely).
This version of WhatsApp will not bring in any major changes to the app. However, the app will come with top improvements along with some bug fixes. The size of the APK file is also reduced by 5KB. Also, it comes with 23 modified files like the about.xml and activity_google_drive_restore.xml. The user will then have to give permission for WhatsApp and Google Drive to backup the contents of the message onto the cloud.
All the messages will be saved in this new Whatsapp version and users are complaining that the images, messages and photos are being disappeared when the phone is lost. WhatsApp has collaborated with Google to store these important files in the Google Cloud.
Users can backup their messages to the cloud by going to WhatsApp’s Settings > Chat and Calls > Chat Backup and then tap the “Backup” button.
When enabled, it will ask you to sign in using your Google account and to allow WhatsApp to use your drive storage.
There was an issue associated with the feature. The backups will not show up as a folder inside the Google drive, but in the web app’s settings under the Manage apps.
WhatsApp has become the need of the hour today. As previously reported via the Inquisitr, the company may consider adding paid services.
