The engineers seem to have relinquished their office jobs for some trail testing and went out to play in the woods with the prototypes of the all-new F-150 Raptor, which is besting its predecessor in terms of tackling hills, ruts and bumps along trails. It involves passing over logs and shallow muddy rivers. Several of the aggressive body additions appear to be inspired by Ford’s own F-150 SVT Raptor flagship, including a blacked-out grille, bumper cover and wider black fender flares.

Ford has just released a new video showing off its new Ford F-150 Raptor prototype getting testing off-road.

The upcoming model is able to overcome those demanding tests thanks to its increased ground clearance and new 3.0-inch FOX Racing Shox which Ford confirmed in earlier statements. There’s also an all-new four-wheel drive system with a “torque-on-demand” transfer case to expertly manage power distribution between the front and rear wheels.

Previous testing sessions showed the Raptor can reach speeds of 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) over certain terrain, and overall, the pickup is 25 percent faster than the current truck based on lap times. Like the new Ford GT supercar, the Raptor packs a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 under the hood, which is reported to push out 450 hp. A Roush performance exhaust system has been added with a side exit for improved sound and exhaust flow while a set of unique Roush 20 inch wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Baja 305/55/20 tires look great and provide solid grip in any conditions. If you’re looking to get behind the wheel of a 2017 Raptor yourself, they should start hitting Ford dealers in the Fall of 2016.
