Emily Blunt, star of the upcoming movie Sicario, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I feel like you’ve accepted us”.
“There was a wedge between us, I felt like”, Jimmy Kimmel said, referring to Blunt’s British heritage.
What do you think of Emily Blunt now being American? The actress jokingly replied, “Oh, we do!”
“Oh, we do! Very much”, Blunt joked. I was like, ‘You could have worn a shirt and tie.
Blunt talked about her “special day” in the court room, where she reveals that Matthew McConaughey showed up looking like he was about to go on a safari, whereas his wife Camila was being sworn in with her. But she explained it was kind of a sad day for her because she was asked to renounce her former sovereign.
The worst part of the ceremony was being asked to renounce Queen Elizabeth II.
The actress added that her husband, actor John Krasinski, later confessed to her that he was doing his best not to stand next to McConaughey and say, “All rise, all rise, all rise” – a turn on the Oscar winner’s famous phrase.
“They asked me things like, ‘Are you a habitual drunkard?’ And I said, ‘Well, I was last night.’ ‘Have I ever been a prostitute?’ was another question”.
She also lamented about how hard the test was, arguing that “most Americans would have no idea how to answer any of these questions”.
Kimmel then made a decision to give Blunt his own version of the test and watched in amusement as she failed miserably.
“This will determine if you are indeed an American citizen”, he said.
