Walker Signs Abortion Ban Bill

Walker signs the bill as he begins his campaign for the Republican nomination for president.

Flores asked Walker directly if he would consider dropping his support for the lawsuit.

Scott Walker predicts that he can finish first, second or third in all four of the first Republican presidential primary contests. Every time he beat them worse.

Wisconsin is now the 15th state to ban abortions at 20 weeks or earlier, which challenges a standard set by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that says fetuses are generally considered “viable”, or able to live outside of the womb, between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy.

But the over-capacity crowds that consistently flocked to each of the governor’s campaign stops diluted Gass’ efforts.

“To how much he hates immigrant families is too much for me, that’s why I came here to just tell him, ‘Why is he separating our family?'” Leslie asked. The general public mixed in with the press, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with photographers and television cameramen perched in the back of the room.

Dietz and his wife Janice have known the Walkers since 1970 when the governor’s dad “Llew”- became the minister of the local Baptist church which they attend.

“If he destroys that, the middle class is already starting to collapse”, Mark Gass, the leader of a group of protestors from AFSCME Iowa Council 61 and AFL-CIO, told Caffeinated Thoughts.

But the main crux of Walker’s stump is his humble roots – a not-so-subtle jab at wealthier, more privileged candidates in the race like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and billionaire businessman Donald Trump. Walker’s administration has, in fact, for months been maintaining his office is immune from many open records requests by articulating a line of reasoning that closely tracks the JFC’s changes to the law, according to the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. Schmitz said the governor was not the target of the investigation. He quickly reversed himself, but the comment still ignited a media firestorm.

“He’s a social conservative and a fiscal conservative”, said Judy Jamison, 61 of Bettendorf.

The poll also addressed favorability among the Republican candidates.

Walker is touring the state in a motor home as he tools around Iowa this weekend, stopping at various places including a Christian conservative gathering today.

The budget removes tenure and shared governance language at University of Wisconsin System schools from state statute and broadens the grounds on which tenured faculty can be fired.

Matt Kittle, an investigator for Wisconsin Watchdog, says the state prosecutorial team essentially was launching a “taxpayer-funded opposition-research campaign”. “I sympathize with her, but I want to make sure that going forward we follow the law in a way that’s responsible”.

Conservatives have charged Democrats with hand-picking judges known to be sympathetic to their cause to green-light investigations into Walker and others.

Walker said he is doing the “full Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst” in Iowa and visiting all 99 counties.
