Sony has finally revealed the name of the one of its fascinating accessory VR headset but with a little disillusionment-Play station VR.The company has spent more than a year in this virtual reality headset that was previously referred to as Project Morpheaus.



The new virtual reality device also requires a PlayStation 4 to run, so the overall cost for the full system should be between £600 and £700.

Said Mayasu Ito, company EVP and Division President of PS Product Business and VP, Software Design Division: “The name “PlayStation VR” not only directly expresses an entirely new experience from PlayStation that allows players to feel as if they are physically inside the virtual world of a game, but it also reflects our hopes that we want our users to feel a sense of familiarity as they enjoy this unbelievable experience”.

PlayStation’s recently rebranded virtual reality headset will sell for around the same price as a new console, says Sony Computer Entertainment’s CEO Andrew House.

He adds, “VR rewrites the rule book on how you can create games“.

According to Pocket Lint, the headset is going to be available in next few months, though the release date is yet to be announced.

He didn’t go into detail, but PlayStation 4 is priced around $399, which might give an indication of how much it will be.

At the launch of PlayStation VR, there’s likely to be at least ten launch titles, including mech-fighting game Rigs, and Final Fantasy XIV.
