It is very likely that the new 2017 Volvo S90 will be coming in with a Mitsubishi Lancer looking front after images of the model was revealed online.
The Volvo S90 will be making its debut next year, but we can now see how it will look like thanks to the images showing what many believe is the genuine die-cast version of the upcoming Volvo SC90.
The images was leaked on a Chinese website as a 1:43 scale of the actual model and it is believed to be the real thing. The die-cast model seems is heavily based on the Concept Coupe. Features like the T-shaped headlights also made it onto the model.
Under the bonnet will be Volvo’s new Drive-E engines – including the T8 range-topper – and an even more upmarket cabin than the XC90, offering a real alternative to the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E-Class and Jaguar XF.
MogoModel via Volvo Model Cars Facebook Page Sporting “Thor’s Hammer” headlights and similar wheels to the Concept Coupe, we’re inclined to believe that this is the upcoming S90 flagship. These images feature the new Volvo S90, the executive-sized sedan meant to replace the aging S80 who will be able to enjoy a peaceful retirement starting next year. Also, the name “S90” appears to be confirmed, judging by the nameplate of the scale model. A gently curved greenhouse transitions into a sloping rear window that gives the vehicle a fastback shape a la the Audi A7.
We do not know much about the Volvo S90 right now, but it is expected to come in with a twin charged four cylinder hybrid T8 engine and that it will be coming with the Scalable Product Architecture. The U.S. will most likely get the 316-hp turbocharged and supercharged unit found in the XC90, with European versions getting a diesel option as well.
So the owners of the 2016 Nissan Maxima and the Volvo XC90 are just the latest to be hurled into a world of pain over their new cars and probably they won’t be the last to suffer from recalls. The model should be followed by the usual V90 station wagon that could be inspired by the highly acclaimed Concept Estate.
