Universal Pictures says it will offer extra security “support” for Straight

The beats were as mean as the streets when the members of N.W.A came “Straight Outta ComptonCalifornia to take the country by storm in the 1980’s.



There is fear surrounding attending the movie in theatres, with some fans concerned about violence erupting during a screening.

Movie theaters taking heightened security measures over Straight Outta Compton’s debut weekend will be able to have those expenses paid back by Universal Pictures, according to multiple reports.

As the film contains themes of police brutality and racial profiling, movie theaters may opt for extra security, and if they do, Universal has offered to reimburse them.

For the stars of “Straight Outta Compton” not much has changed in terms of the tension between police and African Americans since the days of the influential rap group N.W.A.

“If you’re a bitch, you’re probably not going to like us”, he says.

The opening of the highly anticipated movie, which chronicles the rise of Los Angeles rap group N.W.A., is prompting security concerns at some theaters.

Theaters in the past have hired extra security to control large crowds, or for films deemed controversial, such as the 1991 gang drama “Boyz N The Hood”. You may even remember that one of their songs in particular attracted the attention of not just the police, but also the FBI.

Dre allegedly attacked rapper turned journalist Dee Barnes in a nightclub in Los Angeles in January 1991.

Universal launched a campaign with a special spot during February’s Grammy Awards featuring Dr. Dre and Ice Cube revisiting their hometown of Compton as an introduction to the first trailer. “We just want to make sure that where there’s a lot of people, that everything’s in control”, he said.
