Yet despite this, summers across Europe could actually be cooler while the rest of the globe heats up. The results also show that next year is also likely to be warm and that climate change continues.

Head of the Met Office Hadley Centre, Professor Stephen Belcher said: “We know natural patterns contribute to global temperature in any given year, but the very warm temperatures so far this year indicate the continued impact of increasing greenhouse gases”.

“This isn’t a fluke”.

Last year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA scientists concluded that 2014 was the warmest year on record as a result of increasing greenhouse gas emissions, which is the reason for global warming, scientists have concluded. They suspect major changes may be under way.

According to Reuters, the Met Office released a report Monday that indicated the next two years could at least threaten to break all-time climate records. Two trends affecting weather patterns in the near and medium term are in the Pacific Ocean. El Nino is when the Pacific current reverses and happens around every five years, bringing torrential rain to areas normally suffering drought and vice versa along with pushing up temperatures. El Nino tends to push world temperatures upwards. The current event could increase drought risk in South Africa, East Asia, and the Philippines – and bring floods to southern South America.

The other big natural change is the changing decadal temperature pattern in the North Pacific known as the PDO.

Scientists have observed a slowdown in global surface temperatures over the past 10 to 15 years or so, which some have called a “pause” or “hiatus”. But now it looks set to enter a warming phase that will once more increase the temperatures.

But there’s another factor at play.

Global warming could reach over four degrees Celsius by the end of the century, unless major changes are made involving alternative energy sources, “smart” growth, and cleaner transportation, according to the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. “A lot of these things can occur without the influence of human beings”. However, they pointed out that there is a thirdfactor, the AtlanticMultidecadal Oscillation (AMO) that has been heating up the planet since 1990 but not to the extent that it impact the temperature and now it is having the opposite effect and is cooling the planet.
