Police started interrogating four Keralites, who reached the home state today after being deported from UAE, for suspected links with terror outfit Islamic State (ISIS).



The four people deported on Tuesday were placed under arrest upon their arrival at Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram airports and another batch of four is expected to arrive soon, official sources said. Recently, a Muslim group named Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM), chose to launch a campaign on social media platforms, against Islamic State (IS) ideology which is spreading fast among Muslim youth. It isn’t instantly clear when and the way the opposite two have been detained.

According to local reports, these men were part of the 11 other suspected ISIS sympathizers whose names India had shared with the UAE.

The deportation comes close on the heels of UAE sending back 37-year-old Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph who was allegedly involving in recruiting youth for ISIS and was arrested last week.

Meanwhile, Cyber police has launched a probe into an alleged bid by supporters of ISIS to lure a Kerala youth to join the terror group by sending messages through mobile application WhatsApp.

An alleged ISIS member despatched messages to the person from a overseas cellular quantity, urging him to hitch the group, police reportedly stated. It’s in a preliminary stage. “It would take time to identify the source of such messages through social networking site like WhatsApp”, an official, known to the development, said.
