As we reported yesterday for the fourth time in the last two years, the country has a new Prime Minister.

More than three out of four survey respondents – 76% – in Western Australia preferred Turnbull, compared with 20% who opted for Shorten.

FLYNN MP Ken O’Dowd is going to advocate for the same level of government support for rural areas under Mr Turnbull that had been displayed under Mr Abbott.

Mr Barnett told media on Tuesday that although he had a good relationship with Malcolm Turnbull, he believed the new Prime Minister could have done things differently.

14, 2015, ousted Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott in a leadership change within the country’s ruling party.

Turnbull said that if Abbott tried to continue as Australia’s prime minister, “it is clear enough” what will happen.

Soon after Mr Abbott’s pledge of loyalty, Mr Turnbull, a former leader of the republican movement, was joined by his wife Lucy Turnbull, a former Sydney lord mayor, to be sworn in by the Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove, the Queen’s representative. “We have more polls and more commentary than ever before, mostly sour, bitter character assassination”, Abbott told reporters at Parliament House in Canberra. The net satisfaction of Abbott’s Government declined steadily immediately after his assumption of office, with no major recovery, with his personal captaining style being a constant topic of discontent, both outside and inside the Party.

Mr Turnbull later had to meet with his coalition government to thrash out a new agreement with the National Party to replace the one that had been put in place by his predecessor.

“I think he might have taken on a bit more than he can handle”, the MP said.

Nationals senator Matt Canavan is one Coalition figure still disappointed at the change in Liberal leader.

Turnbull, a suave ex-barrister and journalist, has vowed repeatedly to run a government based on collaboration, in contrast to Abbott’s divisive personalised rule marked by frequent gaffes.

Turnbull, 60, led the Liberal Party until 2009, when he was defeated in a leadership vote by Abbott.

Tony Abbott’s prime ministership is the shortest since Harold Holt (excluding Kevin Rudd’s second stint as PM).
