Newcastle United are reportedly keeping an eye on Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga, if Papiss Cisse leaves the Magpies before the transfer window closes.
Cisse has been pushed down the pecking order at Newcastle this summer after the club moved to bring in Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht.
It had also been reported in Germany that a move for the player was seemingly in the works but it looks like this deal is no more.
Although the Tyneside club have claimed that they do not want to sell the Senegal worldwide, the forward had done very little to deny the claims.
When asked whether he will still be at St James Park, the Newcastle striker told journalists “I don’t know, I don’t like to speak about it”.
The striker has already scored this season for Hamburg but only managed four goals in 26 appearances last season.
He added: “I always want to play and I’m always ready but I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong”. If the manager gives me the chance to play, I will play.
“I work very hard on the training pitch every day, but I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong”.
“I don’t know, maybe one day here, or away, I will have my chance to play football again”.
“I always keep going”.
The frontman penned a five-year deal with Hamburg when he signed from Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin last summer, but has struggled for regular first-team football since.
If the right offer comes I will ask Papiss to consider it.
