COQUITLAM, British Columbia (AP) – Lydia Ko won the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open for the third time and first as a professional, beating Stacy Lewis with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

Woods had the year’s biggest chance to end a two-year losing drought as he stood just two shots behind the leader going to the fourth and last round yesterday of the Wyndham Championship in Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. This will make the first time that Tiger has played during the final group on a weekend since 2013’s Bridgestone Invitational.

In pocketing his 21st career win worth $1,241,253, Love also became the third oldest after Sam Snead (52 in 1965) and Art Wall (51 & 3 months in 1975).

“What is it they say – your phone is blowing up?” he said, “Mine is in a meltdown”.

“I did a really good job (of) not looking at leaderboards”.

Brown pulled within one stroke of Love with a birdie on 15, and Gore made things even more interesting with an eagle on that hole.

“If you look at my game and Tiger’s game, we’re making a lot of progress, both of us”, Love said via PGATour.com.

Neither could catch the 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup captain and the victory was Love’s. When Jason Gore’s 50-footer for birdie on the 18th stopped 10 inches short, Love’s victory was sealed. “You just wonder if the body is going to wear out”. Whether or not this is maybe the start of something is yet to be seen, but at least for one day Love III gets to celebrate another win on a probable Hall of Fame career. He seemed to be hitting the ball well and putting it well the first two days. “Now I am playing“. “He was just draining them”. For 54-holes, though, he teased and tormented as he mounted a sprightly title tilt and manoeuvred himself to within one good round of answering some of the questions that have been hovering around him like a swarm of midges.

For those of you that hate watching Tiger Woods, the inside advice to get the media to stop writing so darn much about him was simple: stop clicking on him. On the par-3 third, Brown’s 8-iron took two bounces and rolled into the cup.

Scott Brown, paired with Woods in the final round, had a hole-in-one at the third hole in his 68.

Brazil said everything across the board was up 30 to 60 percent economically because of the outstanding attendance figures and the impact of having Woods in the field.

17-under – Davis Love 111 with 64 66 69 64. But back-to-back bogeys at Nos. 13-15 could help him recover.

Ryan Moore (65) of Puyallup was tied for 16th at 10 under.

Woods failed to gather any momentum early in his final round, starting his day with six straight pars before dropping a shot with a bogey at the seventh. He converted a birdie at the ninth green, setting up hope for dramatic back-9. The first of Woods’ 79 PGA Tour events came at Love’s expense in a 1996 playoff. A blade and muffed chip.

“I gave myself a chance, and I had all the opportunity in the world (Sunday) to do it”, Woods said.

Love is a three-time victor of the tournament.

But Love joked he has some “worn-out parts”.
