Despite his injury, Pierre-Paul remains defiant of the notion he can’t play up to his usual standards.
The New York Daily News published the photos of the New York Giants defensive end, whose hand injuries were caused by a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July. They aren’t particularly pretty, as you might imagine.
The big revelation earlier in the week, per ESPN.com’s Dan Graziano, was that Pierre-Paul had a “repair procedure” before meeting with the Giants in which part of his middle finger was also removed.

On Thursday, Pierre-Paul tweeted that he didn’t need his index finger to sack quarterbacks.
Pierre-Paul posted a video of himself working out on Wednesday. Clearly, the Giants believe the damaged hand needs more time to heal and it would be too great a risk to put him on the field at defensive end – even with a cast or heavy protective wrap on the hand. If he and the Giants don’t reach an agreement by November 17, his season will be over and he’ll become a free agent in 2016. Pierre-Paul came out of last season after having a bounce back year with 12.5 sacks and while the Giants used the franchise tag, they were willing to talk a long term deal.
The Giants plan to reexamine Pierre-Paul at some time next month.
