MTV premiered the trailer for their upcoming fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles during last night’s VMAs.
Poppy Drayton, Ivana Baquero and Austin Butler play Amberle, Eretria and Wil, respectively. While MTV has plenty of experience with shows based on popular properties (Teen Wolf, etc.), this is its first foray into the fantasy realm. The channel’s latest series, The Shannara Chronicles, is set thousands of years in the future after a nuclear holocaust has wiped out most of the planet.
Brooks’ Shannara series encompasses something like two dozen books published since the 1970s.
It sounds like a complicated tale, but it seems to be in good hands.
The stellar producing team attached to the series includes Al Gough and Miles Millar as Writers and Executive Producers.
Also released this week was a video from author Terry Brooks about what it’s like to finally see The Shannara Chronicles come to life on screen. For his part, Brooks, who’s already seen multiple episodes, seems happy with the results. Will you be tuning in January 2016?
