Grant Community High School had a half day. “His initials were inscribed on the Bulldogs” helmets, his nickname on the cheerleaders’ ribbons and a sea of blue and black filled the stands.

The area where the shooting occurred is known for vandalism and squatters, Filenko said.

Bail is set at $100,000 for a woman accused of phoning in a false report that misled investigators hunting for suspects in a fatal police shooting in northern Illinois. “They’re on their hands and knees literally today doing grid to grid searches”, Filenko said.

Investigators on Friday found a significant piece of evidence at the place where an Illinois police officer was fatally shot this week.

A number of sources, including Lake County Department of Transportation, turned over video to authorities overnight, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Commander George Filenko said Friday. This as money is added to manpower.

Nerheim said he did not know Kiefer’s motivation, though authorities Wednesday night said that she fabricated the events to get the attention of the family that employs her as a nanny.

In the days since Gliniewicz’s death in Fox Lake, images of the sleepy village north of Chicago have circulated widely: helicopters hovering over marinas, forests and homes; officers with rifles at the ready; and SWAT team members on rooftops with binoculars.

The officer’s squad auto was parked near a gate about a hundred yards from his body.

For the past 36 hours in and around the small boating and drinking town of Fox Lake, police have had very little to go on to find the men who killed one of their own. Investigators don’t have those DOT videos yet.

“We’re optimistic about all of these videos right now, because they all come together chronologically”, Filenko said “They’re not separate”. His business was blocked off as authorities told him they needed to look at his security video tapes.

Fox Lake officials announced on Friday, September 4th that a $50,000 reward has been pledged for information leading to the arrest of a suspect or suspects in the killing of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz.

New videos will be reviewed in the next several hours by Lake County Sheriff’s Department in Fox Lake manhunt. Chris Covelli said. The website allows people to upload files, such as photos.

Filenko said the task force expected results back from the video as soon as Thursday evening. Fox Lake Police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was shot and killed while pursuing a group of suspicious men. “We’ve closed out those leads completely as being unsubstantiated”.

“This is a community where people don’t lock their doors at night, and now they are locking their doors and staying inside”, Martinez said.

Filenko confirmed for the first time police found Gliniewicz’s gun, but refused to say whether it had been fired.

A visitation and funeral for Gliniewicz will be held Monday, September 7th.
