Tennessee lineman Mosley arrested, charged with DUI

Tennessee redshirt freshman lineman Charles Mosley missed the entire 2014 season because of a broken tibia, and after his arrest Wednesday for first-offense DUI and speeding, he might miss a chunk of 2015.

Mosley, 18, was stopped at 1:51 a.m. on Wednesday by the Tennessee Highway Patrol for allegedly driving 79 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone. On approaching Mosley’s vehicle, the officer noticed an odor of marijuana, according to an arrest warrant.

Mosley told the arresting officer he was returning to campus from the Econo Lodge on Lovell Road.

It also states Mosley said he hadn’t been smoking, but that he had been visiting friends who were smoking.

Mosley was arrested because he was “intoxicated and a danger to himself”, according to the incident report.

Officers administered a field sobriety test which the report says he “performed poorly on”.

Police said Mosley submitted to a blood draw while in custody and was released from the Knox County detention facility at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. He was riding in the vehicle with his family at the time of the accident, which occurred when a tire blew out.

“Mosley, 6’5″ 350-pounds was recruited out of Brighton, TN as a 4-star defensive lineman but was moved to the offensive side.
