Just when we think that Taylor Swift can’t top her most recent star-studded duet, the singer pulls another megastar up on the stage. Tyler responded to that by tweeting after the performance, “WELL Massachusetts DARLIN’…YOU SURE WERE OVERSTOOD TONIGHT!” Before Swift brought Ballerini on stage she introduced her with nothing but kind words, “The first time I met this artist was eight years ago and she was standing in line to meet me at (CMA Music Festival)”, Swift told the crowd.
Tennesse native Alison Krauss also joined Swift for the first night in Nashville, performing “When You Say Nothing At All”.
“It’s not a country show”, Taylor has said of her 1989 World Tour.
Tyler has been in Nashville since January working with songwriters on material for his debut solo album, which he recently said he’s hoping to release by “February or so” of 2016, with plans to support it with a tour before heading out on an Aerosmith trek later in the year.
Over the course of the two-hour concert, which began with “Welcome to New York”, Swift captivated the packed arena with fierce performances and elaborately-crafted visuals and sets, including a catwalk that rose 20 feet off the ground and spun around while Swift and her backup dancers performed atop it. “So blown away by her grace”, Swift gushed on Twitter.
Swift performs in Nashville again on Saturday night (Sept. 26) before traveling to St. Louis for back-to-back concerts at the Scottrade Center on September 28-29.
