Officials from Sweden and Ecuador have met to discuss an agreement on “legal assistance” in criminal cases, which could have implications for the long-running stand off involving WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

It is already known that police had anticipated another possible exit-strategy of concealing Assange in a diplomatic bag.

Now, documents seen by the Ecuadorian journalist Fernando Villavicencio, suggest that staff, who have allegedly become increasingly frustrated by the Australian’s presence, deliberated over his escape – even suggesting he try fancy dress.

“He can try to reach a nearby helipad across the rooftops, or he could get lost among the people in Harrods”, added another.

“I’m a white guy”, Mr Assange said.

Assange is expecting his situation to be resolved in the next two years after spending more than five years in the embassy.

The documents, marked “secret”, also revealed the fraught relationship between Mr Assange and his hosts.

Amid concern for Mr Assange’s wellbeing, the documents said that officials in the building should “control access to alcohol”. He has so far evaded an extradition order in relation to alleged sex offences made against him in Sweden.

Assange is still insisting that if he is sent to Sweden he will be extradited to the USA, where he could face 35 years in prison for publishing classified documents related to U.S. activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On August. 13, prosecutors dropped two cases of sexual molestation and one of unlawful coercion against Assange because their statute of limitations ended, unlike the allegations of rape that expire in 2020.
